What does 'exclude' => true do on a TCA field?

1 answer is correct. Easy

Show answer

Answer

  • D Editors without admin rights can only edit the field once it has been allowed in their backend group

Explanation

exclude turns a field into a so-called exclude field: non-admin users only see and edit it once one of their backend user groups allows it in the access list "Allowed fields" (non_exclude_fields). Administrators are not affected. This lets an integrator, for example, show editors the title and description of a product while reserving the price field for a separate group. The name easily leads you astray: the option has nothing to do with search, copying or saving; it is purely about access rights.
