Explanation
The Environment module (formerly under "Admin Tools") offers the "Test Mail Setup" card: you enter a recipient address, and TYPO3 sends a test email through the configured transport. If it arrives, transport and credentials are correct; if an error message appears, it often points directly to the problem, such as a wrong SMTP port. This saves debugging your own extension when the mail configuration is actually to blame. The core does not ship a scheduler task for test emails.
