How does a custom backend module get its own icon?

1 answer is correct. Easy

Show answer

Answer

  • B The icon is registered under an identifier in Configuration/Icons.php and referenced in Modules.php via iconIdentifier

Explanation

An extension registers icons in **Configuration/Icons.php**: each entry has an identifier, a provider such as SvgIconProvider::class and a source, e.g. 'EXT:my_ext/Resources/Public/Icons/module.svg'. You then use this identifier in Modules.php under iconIdentifier. The same identifier works everywhere else in the backend too, for example in Fluid with <core:icon identifier="..." />. Placing a file in a certain location is not enough; the only file found automatically is Resources/Public/Icons/Extension.svg, and it is used as the icon of the extension itself, not as a module icon.
