Answer

  • A In Configuration/TCA/ in a file named after the table, e.g. tx_myext_domain_model_product.php

Explanation

The TCA (Table Configuration Array) describes how TYPO3 displays and processes a table in the backend. For your own new table you create a file Configuration/TCA/<tablename>.php that returns the TCA array via return; TYPO3 loads all files in this folder automatically at startup. The folder Configuration/TCA/Overrides/ is only meant for changes to existing tables of other extensions, such as a new field in pages or tt_content. ext_tables.sql describes the database structure, not the display in the backend; TYPO3 now even generates many standard columns itself from the TCA.
