1 answer is correct. Easy

Show answer

Answer

  • A They process the incoming request one after another and can modify it, answer it themselves or pass it on to the next middleware

Explanation

A middleware following the PSR-15 standard receives the PSR-7 request and a handler for the next middleware. It can prepare the request (for example resolve the site and language), return its own response directly (such as a redirect) or pass it on with $handler->handle($request) and adjust the response that comes back. This forms an onion-like chain; in the frontend, rendering the page sits at its end. Middlewares have nothing to do with the page cache: it is a separate cache that TYPO3 fills and reads while rendering. Backend modules are not registered through middlewares either, but in Configuration/Backend/Modules.php.
