Persistence · Question 4 of 12
How does Extbase know which columns and relations the database table of a model has?
1 answer is correct. Easy
Show answer
Answer
- B From the TCA definition of the table in Configuration/TCA/
Explanation
Every persisted model needs a TCA definition (Table Configuration Array) of its table, e.g. Configuration/TCA/tx_myextension_domain_model_conference.php. The TCA describes which columns exist, what type they have and how relations are built; Extbase relies on it when loading and saving. TYPO3 can derive the database columns themselves from the TCA for standard types, so ext_tables.sql is only needed for special cases such as custom indexes. Classes.php is not mandatory for every model; it is only needed when table or column names deviate from the convention.
